Modal fiber has a fine, smooth and hygroscopic structure, which lays a good foundation for ink adhesion. Unlike some stiff synthetic fabrics that repel ink, modal can absorb water-based inks evenly, making printed patterns clear and delicate. Modal is prone to slight shrinkage under high temperature and humidity, so pre-shrinking treatment is necessary before printing to avoid pattern deformation after washing. Besides, excessive printing pressure and high-temperature ironing should be avoided during processing, as they may make the smooth modal fiber stiff or cause fiber breakage. It is also not recommended to use oil-based thick inks, which will cover the fabric’s pores, destroy its original breathability and softness, and affect the wearing experience.
