Due to the covid pandemic in April, the cotton shipping was affected and many factories were stoped production. Although it recovered a little at the end of the month, the orders didn't increase much and the market demand was weak. At the same time, the finished products of cotton were down in price and the price of polyester staple fiber and viscose staple fiber went up. The average cotton price in April was RMB 22,618/ton, which was decreased by RMB 121/ton compared with March and went up by RMB 7,052/ton compared with 2021.
In international market, the price increase of commodities, crude oil, strong us dollar, and exemption of import duty by Indian goverment, the international cotton price reached the highest within 11 years.
