In the year of 2021, the production of cotton recovered and reached to 25.71 million tons, which increased by 6.01% compared with last year. The growth comes from USA mainly. The output of USA is expected to be 3.91 million tons, which increased by 739,000 tons. The output grows in USA, Brazil and Pakistan. While it drops in India and China. The global output has recovered but not yet to the pre-pandemic level.
The output of cotton made a big difference in west africa. The early gross output in 2021 increased by 47.8%. To be specific, Mali is the country increased the most in cotton output. In 2020, the cotton output in Mali dropped from 284,000 tons to 64,000 tons due to pandemic and price decrease. In 2021, the output is expected to increase to 340,000 tons. While the cotton output of Benin in 2021 reaches to 382,000 tons. Although it is hard to predict the steady and high growth, this is a very good phenomenon for the cotton output in west africa.
